THE ALABAMA AEROSPACE AND AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL IS APPLYING FOR THE FAA AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICAL WORKERS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT GRANT PROGRAM. WE ARE ELIGIBLE AS A HIGH SCHOOL AND HAVE ATTACHED A LETTER OF PENDING ACCREDITATION. WE ARE ASKING THAT OUR PROJECT PROPOSAL BE CONSIDERED UNDER THE CATEGORY OF A PROJECT THAT CREATES AND DELIVERS CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH MEANINGFUL AVIATION EDUCATION THAT IS DESIGNED TO PREPARE THE STUDENTS TO BECOME AIRCRAFT PILOTS, AEROSPACE ENGINEERS, OR UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS OPERATORS.WE WILL TRAIN STUDENTS IN THE FIELD OF AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN. THROUGH OUR PROGRAM, STUDENTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE THEIR AIRFRAME AND POWERPLANT MECHANIC S LICENSE AND OR THEIR AVIONIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION. OUR OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:1. INCREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF AAHS STUDENTS WHO SELECT AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE AMT PREREQUISITE AND ELECTIVE COURSES NEEDED TO IN AVIATION MAINTENANCE CREDENTIALING PROGRAMS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND POST-SECONDARY LEVEL. SUCCESS WILL BE DETERMINED BY ELECTIVE COURSE ENROLLMENT, AVIATION MECHANICS-PREPARATION CORE SUBJECT COURSE ENROLLMENT, COMPLETION OF AMT PRACTICE ASSESSMENTS AND THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO CHOOSE THE AMP PATHWAY.COURSE ENROLLMENT RECORDS, GRADES, PROJECT ADVISORY RECORDS AND ADVISEMENT RECORDS WILL BE TRACKED TO DETERMINE IF THE OBJECT HAS BEEN MET.
