NEW DOOR SERVES YOUTH AGES 16-24 WHO ARE OVERCOMING HISTORIES OF NEGLECT, INCARCERATION, HOMELESSNESS, SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND POVERTY. NEW DOOR PROVIDES THE REAL JOBS AND DEEP SUPPORT THAT ENABLE YOUTH TO IDENTIFY GOALS, LEARN HEALTHY BEHAVIORS, IMPROVE THEIR COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND MAKE A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION TO A HEALTHY, FULFILLING AND SUSTAINABLE ADULTHOOD. THE PROPOSED AMERICORPS VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOCUS AREA. EXPANDING CAPACITY FOR NEW DOOR BY ADDING 5 AMERICORPS VISTA MEMBERS WILL IMPROVE OUR EFFORTS TO CONTINUE GROWING THE NUMBER OF CLIENTS WE SERVE AND TO ACHIEVE OUR VISION OF PROVIDING 2,000 NEW JOBS TO DISCONNECTED YOUTH THIS DECADE.
