PUEBLO UNIDO PROJECT - THE LATINO SERVING COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION CENTRAL CITY NEIGHBORHOOD PARTNERS (CCNP) PROPOSES TO IMPLEMENT THE PUEBLO UNIDO PROJECT (PUP), A LATINO FOCUSED MULTI-FACETED COMMUNITY-APPROACH PROJECT IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY (LAC). CCNP HAS OVER 20 YEARS OF DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE LEADING SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS BETWEEN CBOS, BUSINESS, EDUCATIONAL AND GOVERNMENT ENTITIES IN THE WESTLAKE NEIGHBORHOOD OF LAC. THE WESTLAKE NEIGHBORHOOD IS PART OF ONE OF 22 NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROMISE ZONE. PUP WILL PROVIDE DIRECT SERVICE TO 350 UNDUPLICATED PARTICIPANTS OVER THE FIVE YEARS (Y1: 49, Y2: 84, Y3: 84, Y4: 84, Y5: 49). PUP WILL IMPLEMENT SEEKING SAFETY AS THE EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAM FOR THE PREVENTION OF SUBSTANCE USE AND HIV AMONG LATINO YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS. SEEKING SAFETY CONSISTS OF 12, 50-MINUTE GROUP SESSIONS EACH COVERING A RELATED TOPIC FOR AT RISK-YOUTH AGES 13-24. SS IS A PRESENT-FOCUSED TREATMENT FOR CLIENTS WITH A HISTORY OF TRAUMA AND RISK SUBSTANCE ABUSE. PUP WILL 1) IMPLEMENT SAMHSA'S APPROVE SEEKING SAFETY, 2) WILL PARTNER WITH VARIOUS COMMUNITY SECTORS TO IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY BASED-SUBSTANCE MISUSE AND HIV PREVENTION STRATEGIES, 3) WILL DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT PUBLIC MESSAGING AND AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS ON THE RISK OF SUBSTANCE MISUSE AMONG INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH HIV AND THE IMPORTANCE OF SEEKING CARE AND TREATMENT, 4) WILL OFFER FREE SCREENING AND TESTING FOR HIV AND VIRAL HEPATITIS FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS, 5) WILL PROVIDE LINKAGE TO CARE SERVICES FOR THOSE NEEDING HIV AND SUBSTANCE MISUSE SERVICES, AND 6) WILL PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING ON THE IMPORTANCE OF SCREENING FOR HIV AND LINKAGE TO CARE SERVICES.
