RSVP DUBUQUE COUNTY (RSVPDC) PROVIDES COMMUNITY MEMBERS AGE 55 OR BETTER WITH VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES THAT USE THEIR LIFE EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS TO MEET COMMUNITY NEEDS. UNITYPOINT HEALTH-FINLEY HOSPITAL HAS SPONSORED RSVPDC SINCE 1982. A TOTAL OF 360 UNDUPLICATED RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE IN THE COMMUNITIES OF DUBUQUE, ASBURY, CASCADE, DYERSVILLE, EPWORTH, FARLEY, NEW VIENNA, PEOSTA, AND WORTHINGTON IOWA. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF RSVPDC IS HEALTHY FUTURES, FOCUSING ON INCREASING SOCIAL SUPPORT OF SENIORS AND ASSISTING THEM TO HAVE AN IMPROVED CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING. VOLUNTEERS ALSO SERVE IN THE AREAS OF: CAPACITY BUILDING, DISASTER SERVICES, ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, AND OTHER COMMUNITY PRIORITIES. IN THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA, HEALTHY FUTURES, 50 UNDUPLICATED VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE THROUGH THE HOME DELIVERED MEALS PROGRAM, THE DUBUQUE FOOD PANTRY, AND DURIDE. THE POPULATIONS SERVED INCLUDE SENIORS, HOMEBOUND ELDERLY, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUALS. THE CNCS FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $40,376 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF IOWA IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,468 AND FUNDING FROM THE DUBUQUE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,200. UNITYPOINT HEALTH-FINLEY HOSPITAL WILL CONTRIBUTE OFFICE SPACE, PHONE AND INTERNET SERVICE, PRINTING, POSTAGE, MEETING ROOM USAGE, AND STAFF SUPERVISION TOTALING MORE THAN $12,345 OF IN-KIND SUPPORT.
