INTEGRATED HIV PROGRAMS FOR TENNESSEE COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO SUPPORT ENDING THE HIV EPIDEMIC IN THE UNITED STATES CDC-RFA-PS-23-0073 - IN 2020, 651 TENNESSEANS RECEIVED A POSITIVE HIV DIAGNOSIS COMPARED TO 719 IN 2016. ACCORDING TO THE TENNESSEE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE MORE THAN 19,000 WERE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS IN 2020. ALTHOUGH NEW DIAGNOSIS OF HIV HAVE GRADUALLY DECREASED WITHIN THE STATE, DISPARITIES IN HIV INCIDENCE AND HIV-RELATED OUTCOMES BY AGE, GENDER, RACE/ETHNICITY, HIV TRANSMISSION RISK, AND GEOGRAPHY PERSIST THROUGHOUT TENNESSEE. DESPITE ONLY MAKING UP 17% OF THE POPULATION, MORE THAN HALF OF NEW HIV DIAGNOSES, PERSONS LIVING WITH HIV, AND DEATHS AMONG PERSONS WITH HIV, ARE PERSONS OF COLOR. BLACK MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN (MSM), TRANSGENDER WOMEN, AND PERSONS WHO INJECT DRUGS (PWID) ARE ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED BY HIV IN TENNESSEE. THE UNITED WAY OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE DBA UNITED WAY OF GREATER NASHVILLE WILL WORK TO ADDRESS THESE DISPARITIES BY FUNDING HIGH-QUALITY HIV PREVENTION AND CARE ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO PROVIDE TENNESSEE COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS WITH VITAL RESOURCES TO CONTINUE HIV PREVENTION AND TREATMENT ACTIVITIES, BY LEVERAGING VITAL SCIENTIFIC ADVANCES IN HIV PREVENTION, DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT, AND OUTBREAK RESPONSE. UNITED WAY CURRENTLY FUNDS ESTABLISHED PROGRAMS THROUGH TDH CDC PS18-1802 AND PS20-2010 FUNDING. WITH PS18-1802 AND PS20-2010 FUNDS ENDING IN TENNESSEE, PS23-0073 FUNDING WILL CONTINUE SUPPORTING COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO PREVENT NEW INFECTIONS; IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES FOR PERSONS LIVING WITH HIV INFECTION, INCLUDING ACHIEVING AND SUSTAINING VIRAL SUPPRESSION; AND REDUCED RELATED HEALTH DISPARITIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NATIONAL PREVENTION GOALS, HIV CARE CONTINUUM, AND CDC'S HIP APPROACH BY USING QUALITY PROGRAMS AND TDH SURVEILLANCE DATA TO GUIDE HIV PREVENTION EFFORTS.
